  Walking the Labyrinth

materials

Chalk, Logs, or Rocks

methods

Contrary to the perceptions of many, a labyrinth is not a maze. It is a pattern, commonly a spiral, in which one walks from the outside to the inside and back out again.

I had often thought about how best to set up a labyrinth in the garden after walking one at a conference. When I set these logs in this pattern, I found that the children naturally used it as a labyrinth, quietly walking the path, passing one another gently as they walked in opposite directions.
