Blue, Green, and Brown

Spring is here, the air is clear, warmth penetrates our bones.

I know it looks like I’m posing, but my student caught me unawares as our park neighbor was exchanging newt information with us.

Squirreling

Every year I spend outside, I learn new things and make new connections. We all know about squirrels, well, squirreling away acorns in the Fall. Wouldn’t it make sense that they’d dig them back up in the Spring, helping create the healthy, fat, fertile bodies needed to make their baby squirrels? At first we kept having to chase this one away from thinking we’d give it food, but once she started rifling through the wood chips and finding her acorns, there was no stopping her!

Newting

Just this morning (4/16/24) we found many newt egg sacs, all covered in sediment. Hopefully they’ll receive all the oxygen they need to develop! Today was the first time I saw one attached to the wall and not a stick.

“Education Without Curriculum”

I love Taro San’s writing, it is like poetry. This is how we teach:

I make movies, too!

Strephon will do a Q & A after each, and I’ll be selling our merchandise- we bring DVDs and other items selected for each showing. We'd love to see you there, maybe even hang out a bit!

Here’s more about our movie:

Tower Records started in Sacramento, and each store had fantastic wall art created by in-house artists. Reminisce with some great record art from the 80s and check out the artists' wild tales with Art Gods. Free guitar picks included!

ART GODS (2013) is an oral history of the Tower Records art department. California-based Tower Records was the place to purchase music around the world for decades. One-of-a-kind promotional displays set the scene in each store and viewing them became a part of the record buying experience. "Art Gods" is the story of how one employee's idea inspired a chain-wide artistic style and includes a wealth of photos, videos of in store musician appearances, and interviews with the artists who made it happen.

Colin Hanks was sweet enough to avoid duplicating material in his Tower Records documentary. 💞

Take care,
